La Polonia si è offerta allo sguardo come una terra sospesa, dove l’inverno non è solo stagione ma linguaggio fatto di silenzi profondi, luci rade e ombre.
Cracovia, a Natale accoglie festosa con le sue piazze vestite di luci, dove il freddo ovatta le sensazioni e le decorazioni illuminano i volti e si riflettono nelle vetrine. E’ la città di Karol Wojtyla, dove la fede ha camminato tra le strade prima di diventare parola universale.
Poi Auschwitz ! Non è un luogo da fotografare, ma da attraversare interiormente. L’obiettivo si fa umile ed esitante. Ogni immagine nasce dal rispetto e dal silenzio, perché ciò che è accaduto non appartiene al passato, ma alla responsabilità del presente. Fotografare Auschwitz e Birkenau significa accettare che le immagini non servono a ricordare, ma a non dimenticare.
Infine Varsavia, città che ha conosciuto la distruzione e ha scelto la rinascita. Riflessi sull’asfalto, geometrie moderne, solitudini urbane. La città vive nel contrasto e proprio lí trova la sua identità.
Poland has offered itself to the eye as a suspended land, where winter is not only season but a language made of deep silences, sparse lights and shadows.
Krakow, at Christmas welcomes a festive woman with its squares dressed in lights, where the cold damfles the sensations and the decorations illuminate the faces and are reflected in the showcases. It is the city of Karol Wojtyla, where faith has walked the streets before becoming a universal word.
Then Auschwitz! It is not a place to be photographed, but to be crossed internally. The goal is made humble and hesitant. Every image is born of respect and silence, because what happened does not belong to the past, but to the responsibility of the present. Photographing Auschwitz and Birkenau means accepting that images are not for remembering, but for not forgetting.
Finally, Warsaw, a city that has known destruction and has chosen rebirth. Reflections on the asphalt, modern geometries, urban solitudes. The city lives in contrast and right there it finds its identity.
