Il Ladakh, situato nel cuore dell’Himalaya indiano, è una terra che entra profondamente nell’anima: deserti d’alta quota, ghiacciai millenari, monasteri silenziosi e strade vertiginose, volti segnati dal tempo e sorrisi.
Il viaggio mi ha condotto da Delhi fino alle remote valli del nord, passando per Leh, Nurla, Nimmu, Sumur, Stock e oltre, fino al passo di Khardung La, uno dei piu’ alti del mondo.
Attraversando paesaggi spettacolari e visitando monasteri antichi che sono centri spirituali che incarnano la profonda devozione del buddismo tibetano. Questi luoghi sacri, spesso arroccati su alture remote, offrono un’atmosfera di contemplazione e meditazione, arricchita da affreschi consumati dal tempo e il suono profondo dei mantra, tra i fumi degli incensi e gli sguardi sorridenti dei monaci.
Il viaggio termina tornando a Delhi, fra il vortice dei clacson, odori pungenti, colori accesi e una vivacità sfrenata.
Ladakh, located in the heart of the Indian Himalayas, is a land that goes deep into the soul: high-altitude deserts, millennial glaciers, silent monasteries and dizzying roads, faces marked by time and smiles.
The trip led me from Delhi to the remote northern valleys, passing through Leh, Nurla, Nimmu, Sumur, Stock and beyond, up to the Khardung La pass, one of the highest in the world.
Crossing spectacular landscapes and visiting ancient monasteries that are spiritual centres that embody the deep devotion of Tibetan Buddhism. These sacred places, often perched on remote heights, offer an atmosphere of contemplation and meditation, enriched by frescos consumed by time and the deep sound of mantras, between the incense smoke and the smiling glances of monks.
The journey ends back in Delhi, between the whirlwind of horns, pungent smells, bright colours and unbridled liveliness.
